A TARP PROVIDES NECESSARY weather protection while maintaining the feeling of being completely outdoors. In addition, a tarp can be used to create an airy patio at the tent entrance or as a kitchen some distance away from the tent site for greater safety in bear areas. The areas of use for the tarp are almost endless and it can be set up with hiking poles, paddles or poles and strung up between trees.

Hilleberg's smallest model, the Tarp 5, is designed specifically to protect a person with equipment. The shape makes it easy to get in and out and the tarp can be set up quite high off the ground to get the right airy tarp feel - or with the edges close to the ground for good protection in rough weather conditions. By using a Bivanorak when sleeping under the Tarp 5, or any other tarp model, you get extra protection both for the sleeping bag and against bad weather.

To fit right into a minimalist product line, the Tarp 5 is made from our lightweight yet strong Kerlon 1000 fabric, used in our three-season Yellow Label tents, and comes complete with 2-millimeter guylines. The Tarp 5 is a perfect combination with our Mesh Tent 1, and they weigh only 730g together. It's a very nice solution for warm weather camping for those who want a minimal and light, yet comfortable option.
